COURT SENSE is a proven method of basketball training for the serious players who want to take their game to the next level. The Court Sense concept and instruction are guaranteed to improve one’s skills and knowledge of the game. This program specializes in specific skills designed to develop excellent footwork, both offensively and defensively. Students are taught to develop good balance, quick change of direction, and an explosive first step. Court Sense is essential for point guards and a great training program for the all-around basketball player.
Students are trained to incorporate individual basketball skills at game-like speeds and situations. Drills for court vision, creating space for passing lanes and scoring opportunities, and quick decision making are also taught.
Students work on improving various skills such as: ball handling, passing, scoring, defensive techniques, footwork and balance, conditioning and strength training. Students learn how to identify offensive and defensive sets, how to make intelligent decisions , and communicate effectively with teammates.
Instruction is available in small groups and/or team workouts. Each student begins at his or her own pace and progresses from there. A personalized program of development based on each student’s ability begins with the student and coach Irv setting reasonable goals and objectives.
Students begin to use and internalize their new skills and apply them within a team concept. The more a player improves his or her own skill level, the greater the role he or she plays as a member of a team.
ADVANCED TRAINING
Designed for the Varsity and College/Pro level player. Skills include intense and innovative two ball drills, tennis ball drills, quickness and agility drills, footwork, quick decision making drills, strength and conditioning training and more.
MENTAL SKILLS TRAINING
Executing under pressure takes more than physical skills, it requires mental skills as well. As a part of the Court Sense training program we offer players optional training sessions in how to develop a confident mindset to take their performance to a higher level. In addition to strength, technique and conditioning, development of mental skills makes for the complete basketball player.
